Urban green as central part of landscape architecture: from this idea PadovaFiere launches“Flormart Garden Show”, International Landscape Architecture Competition, one of the most awaited news of the 66th edition of “Flormart – International Gardening and Nursery gardening Exhibition”, scheduled from 9 to 11 september 2015 in PadovaFiere.
The initiative, inspires a reflection on the future of our cities, and on the need of embracing more sustainable urban models. The purpose of the competition is to promote an international debate on landscape and the relationship between architecture and natureto highlight the importance of actual themes as biodiversity conservation, sustainability, health and improvement of living conditions in urban centers. The initiative – which has received the patronage of the National Council of Architects, and of the University of Padua – is open to landscape architects, designers, design practices, companies involved in the field of green design and construction, students, associations who have developed projects in the field of sustainability, and in general to all operators of green and landscape.
“Flormart Garden Show” has received the important patronage of UNISCAPE, the European Network of Universities for the implementation of the European Landscape Convention, currently composed of 52 members from 16 countries. Flormart exhibition will be therefore an important moment of discussion between international experts on landscape subjects and opportunities.
Two sections are provided: an award for a design or a cultural project focused on green themes which has been completed within 02/28/2015 (recorded participation section), an award for a temporary garden project of 48 square meters to be installed inside the 7/8 Gallery of PadovaFiere Exhibition Center during the “Flormart” 2015 exhibition (anonymous participation section).
The winning project of this section will be installed on a permanent basis after the exhibition, in “Parco Europa” in Padua. The total prize money is 10 thousand euro.
The proposals will be judged by a panel of experts of international profile, chaired by Giorgio Strappazzon, architect and partner of VS associati, who has designed the Biodiversity garden glasshouses of the Botanical Garden of Padua. The components of the jury are Arch. Juan Manuel Palerm Salazar, President of Uniscape, Lucia Bortolini, Professor at the University of Padua, Tesaf – Department of Land, Environment, Agriculture and Forestry,Arch. Giuseppe Cappochin, President of the Architects of Padua, Arch. Novella Cappelletti, Director of “Paysage”, Dr. Gianpaolo Barbariol, Head of urban green division of the Municipality of Padua, Dr. Daniele Villa, CEO of PadovaFiere Spa.
The invitation is open to all operators working in the field of green and landscape, who can find in “Flormart Garden Show, International Landscape Architecture Competition” a showcase to exhibit the result of their researches and their work, and an opportunity of discussion and interchange of experiences and ideas with other realities on an international scale.
